The difference a few days can make...

It's amazing the difference a few days can make. Tuesday it was snowing. Today is sunny and around 68 degrees. The past few days have been lovely. Hubby and I have been out walking quite a bit, taking advantage of the nice weather.

It's Friday! I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing this weekend. Maybe a bit of writing, some reading, but other than that, only time will tell.

Is it Winter?

As I look out the window this morning, snow is wafting down from the sky. The ground is already covered in a light veil of white. It's supposed to clear away later and warm up. This won't last, but it sure is weird to go from summer to winter from one day to the next.

On another note, here is a video from Phantom of the Opera. I actually saw this production back in 1989. It was absolutely breathtaking.

Enjoy!

A Sign of Summer

You can always tell that summer has arrived by looking in my freezer. Why? Because you'll find a container full of slush. What is slush?

Well, slush is the basis for a yummy summer drink!

Slush:

1 - 12 oz tin of frozen orange juice
1 - 12oz tin of frozen lemonade
3/4 cup sugar
5 cups of water
2 cups of vodka.

Mix in order given and pop into freezer.

Serve 1/2 glass of slush topped with 7up or ginger ale.

Ahhhhh!

Life's a Beach

It's the first "unofficial" weekend of summer and I had a wonderful time. Hubby and I went to a beach not far from the city. We went early and almost had the whole thing to ourself. What a view!

You can see more of the beach behind me!

Had brunch at my sisters...no pictures, unfortunately.

Went to my brother's place for a barbecue. That's me lounging in a chair at his place before we all went outside to watch as he manned the grill.

Walk This Way

Sometimes inspiration comes from unlikely places and when we least expect it. I followed a link to The Crazy Woman Inside Me a blog by Susan Bodendorfer, aka Daisy Dexter Dobbs. It was inspiring and made me stop and reflect on how much I value my health. But, like many of us, I've let things slide. You get busy with life, or you don't have time, or you just don't feel like exercising.

I admit, I've become a couch potato over the winter. Those long, cold months made me want to do nothing but work and curl up on the end of the couch and nibble, which is why I wrote four books and put on five pounds.

Winter is over and spring is in the air. After reading Susan's Blog, I went for a 4K walk around a local pond today with my hubby. Thanks for the inspiration, Susan, and good luck with your continued journey toward health!

Monday, Monday!

Good morning and welcome to Monday. I hope everyone enjoyed the Mother's Day weekend.

Hubby and I went to the movies this past Friday. We took in the latest edition to the Star Trek franchise. I really didn't have any expectations when I went. I figured it would be a good movie.

It was fantastic!

I loved it. It didn't try to be the old Star Trek. It went back in time to the very beginning when Jim Kirk and Spock were children and moved forward in time. It was original, yet it didn't ignore the fact that these are beloved characters and were true to them.

I think that Star Trek fans will enjoy it. And, even if you've never seen Star Trek in your life, you'll enjoy it. It's a science fiction adventure that is mostly about people. That's what makes it work.

NJ Walters

Book 5 of Dalakis Passion

Katya Markova has spent the last year of her life searching for the person responsible for the brutal murder of her parents. Her quest has taken her around the world and into the dark world of blood cults and murderers, finally bringing her to Transylvania and the Dalakis family.

Chase Deveraux is at a crossroads in his life. His sister and most of his extended family are vampires, but he is not. He’s come to Dalakis Castle to spend time with his family and make some important decisions about his uncertain future.

Vengeance is at hand for Katya, and nothing will make her stray from her chosen path—nothing, that is, but Chase. From their first chance meeting, the emotional and sexual connection between them is explosive. But Katya is enmeshed in a world of lies and deceptions, which now includes Chase and his family. On The Road

Last week, hubby and I took a short trip to visit family. It was only overnight, but getting away was nice. We drove the backroads instead of the highway. It took us almost two hours, instead of one, to get to our destination, but it was a much nicer drive. I enjoy looking at the trees, the ocean and the occassion goat or horse. We arrived much more relaxed. And it gave us time to talk, which is always nice.

The calendar may say it's spring, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the countryside. Most of the trees are still bare, and I didn't see any flowers that have been brave enough to poke their heads up out of the ground yet. But that will change...hopefully soon.

This summer, we're hoping to take a few more roadtrips. Short ones for sure, but the only way to get a break from work when you work from home is to leave it and the computer behind. I wonder where we'll go...
