Throwback Thursday--Book Edition (Water Bound by Christine Feehan)

WATER BOUND (Sea Haven: Sisters of the Heart, #1) is my choice for Throwback Thursday Book Edition. It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Christine Feehan, but this might be my favorite book of them all...so far.

Anyone who has read her Drake Sisters series will recognize the name of Prakenskii. This new series takes us back to Sea Haven and introduces us to a group of women who are, as the title of the series implies, sisters of the heart. Rikki is an independent autistic woman with a dark past who fishes a drowning man out of the ocean. Their lives will never be the same.

If you love paranormal romance, suspense, danger and a deeply emotional story, then you must try this book. I love Rikki and her hard-won battles. And Lev...well, he's one of a kind.

Off the shores of Sea Haven, a beautiful diver rescues a man from drowning, a man with no memory of who he is-or why he seems to possess the violent instincts of a trained killer. But soon, he and his savior will be engulfed in a storm of dizzying passion and inescapable danger...

BLURB:

The last thing Lev Prakenskii remembered was being lost in the swirling currents of the ocean and getting sucked deeper into the nothingness of a freezing black eddy off the coastal town of Sea Haven.  Just as quickly, just a miraculously, he was saved—pulled ashore by a beautiful stranger.  But Lev has no memory of who he is—or why he seems to possess the violent instincts of a trained killer.  All he knows is that he fears for his life, and for the life of his unexpected savior.

Her name is Rikki, a sea~urchin diver in Sea Haven.  She has always felt an affinity for the ocean, and for the seductive pull of the tides.  And now she feels drawn in the same way to the enigmatic man she rescued.  But soon they will be bound by something even stronger, and their tantalizing secrets will engulf them both in a whirlpool of dizzying passion and inescapable danger.

5 Stars for Flame of the Phoenix

FLAME OF THE PHOENIX has received 5 Stars from Angel's Addiction Book Blog.

Here's a snippet of the review:

"I love when a book is emotionally intense and yet still sweet at the same time. As much as Phoenix wanted Tilly he was so patient with her and her feelings. Tilly was scared of the intensity of her emotions but when the time came she faced her fears. Love, love, love characters with that kind of inner strength. You have problems, you know it and you deal with it...N.J. Walters can write some seriously sexy PNR! For a fast paced read full of passion, action and engaging characters, I highly recommend Flame of the Phoenix!" ~Angelblue

Flame of the Phoenix is finally here!

FLAME OF THE PHOENIX, a Hades' Carnival novella, is available today from Samhain Publishing and other fine ebook retailers.

BLURB:

There’s enough heat between them to send them both up in flames.

Hades’ Carnival, Book 6

Tilly Ledet has long been a friend of the immortal, shape-shifting warriors who follow the Lady of the Beasts, a willing helper in their battle against Hades. But now that Hades is free and unable to touch the warriors, Tilly is fair game.

When Phoenix shows up insisting she drop everything to go into hiding, Tilly balks. Phoenix is strong and courageous, but when she imagines being in his arms, the protective barriers guarding her heart slam down.

For the first time in his immortal life, Phoenix feels fear. Not for himself, but for the woman whose beauty and forthright nature heat both his mind and body. While one kiss easily ignites her passion, claiming her as his own will take more than heat.

It may require a sacrifice that could send them both up in flames.

Warning: This steamy love story may cause overheating and the possibility of bursting into flames. Read at your own risk.

Wolf at the Door in PRINT

WOLF AT THE DOOR, the first book in my new Salvation Pack series, is now in PRINT.

BLURB:

When this wolf comes knocking, there’s no turning him away

Salvation Pack, Book 1

When Gwendolyn Jones inherits a Tennessee cabin from a great aunt she never knew, she quits her job and follows her dream to write full time. Meeting a stranger in a local cemetery isn’t a risk she normally takes, but she needs the information on his flash drive for an article she’s writing on werewolves. Later that night, when two honest-to-God werewolves come knocking on her cabin door, they’re definitely not Photoshopped.

Jacque LaForge is on a mission to retrieve a flash drive before it endangers his pack. He never thought he’d find a mate, but the chemistry between him and Gwen is unmistakably off the charts. Now to convince her he’s only trying to protect her from his vengeful former pack—led by his own father.

Gwen’s first instinct to flee only gets her a smashed car and a concussion. She wakes up in a dangerous new world she never thought existed—and in the arms of the one man who stands between her and certain death.

Warning: Contains a sexy werewolf and his small pack of friends, a paranormal writer who really didn’t believe such things existed—until now—and a completely dysfunctional family who are out to kill them both.

5 Stars for Heart of the Serpent

HEART OF THE SERPENT has received a 5 star review from LITERARY ADDICTS BOOK COMMUNITY.

"Mordecai fights his attraction to Jessica. The chemistry sizzles between these two strong bewitching characters and the sex scenes are steamy but the relationship is on shaky ground due to Mordecai’s past. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, excitement and romance."

Weekend Book Club--The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston

I love Shelly Laurenston's Pride series. If you love paranormal/shapeshifter stories with a bite and plenty of sass, you have to read her books.

This week, I read THE UNLEASHING, the first book in Shelly Laurenston's Call of Crows series. Think Vikings meet shapeshifters. This is Nordic mythology mixed with imagination and set in the modern world. It's a sometimes dark story mixed with the author's trademark sass and humor to balance it out. And of course there is plenty of steam between Kera and Vig.

I really enjoyed this book and am eagerly awaiting the next one in the series.

BLURB:

Kera Watson never expected to face death behind a Los Angeles coffee shop. Not after surviving two tours lugging an M16 around the Middle East. If it wasn't for her hot Viking customer showing up too late to help, nobody would even see her die.

In uncountable years of service to the Allfather Odin, Ludvig "Vig" Rundstrom has never seen anyone kick ass with quite as much style as Kera. He knows one way to save her life--but she might not like it. Signing up with the Crows will get Kera a new set of battle buddies: cackling, gossiping, squabbling, party-hearty women. With wings. So not the Marines.

But Vig can't give up on someone as special as Kera. With a storm of oh-crap magic speeding straight for L.A., survival will depend on combining their strengths: Kera's discipline, Vig's loyalty... and the Crows' sheer love of battle. Boy, are they in trouble.

Throwback Thursday--Book Edition (The Buckhorn Brothers series by Lori Foster)

I fell in love with Lori Foster's series about the Hudson brothers of Buckhorn County, Kentucky when they were first released in 2000. In fact, I have all the originals on my keeper shelf. This boisterous family of four brothers are all tough men with big hearts. While I love them all, I am partial to Jordan...and Gabe. How can a girl choose?

If you love contemporary romance you, you have to check out this series. You can no longer buy the original Harlequin Temptation books, but they are available as a box set at Amazon. Why buy only one book when you're going to want to read all four.

BUYTHE BUCKHORN BROTHERS BOX SET: SAWYER/MORGAN/GABE/JORDAN

BLURB:

Sawyer
The only doctor in Buckhorn County, Kentucky, Sawyer Hudson knows a thing or two about saving lives. But when he rescues beautiful Honey Malone from a car wreck and nurses her to health at his home, he finds himself dreading the day she's well enough to leave…

Morgan
Buckhorn's big, bad sheriff, Morgan Hudson, wants a wife—one who's undemanding and content with small-town life. So why can't he stop thinking about Misty Malone, the brazen city girl who's just found herself on the wrong side of the law?

Gabe
Gabe Kasper, the heartthrob of Buckhorn, can have any woman he wants—except for prickly, uptight Elizabeth Parks. All she wants is an interview about Gabe's recent act of bravery. And though he considers himself far from a hero, he'll answer her questions in exchange for kisses…and more.

Jordan
Veterinarian Jordan Somerville thinks he wants a woman who's a paragon of virtue. But when he meets single mother and exotic dancer Georgia Barnes, he's suddenly tempted to break all his own rules…
