2016 in Review

2016 has been a year of ups and downs in the world and my year has been no different. With the year waning and the new one about to begin, I’d like to focus on some of the great things that happened for me in 2016!

I had 6 older books updated and rereleased.

Beyond the Page rereleased my Summersville Secrets trilogy—Uncovering Annabelle, Enticing Emma, and Lily’s List. They all got new titles and wonderful new covers. Beyond the Page is also contracted to rerelease my Dalakis Passion vampire series in 2016. They’ll all be updated and receive new covers. I’m very excited about this.

Carina Press rereleased the Project Alpha trilogy—Embracing Silence, Assassin’s Awakening, and Alpha’s Revenge. Two of the books got new titles, but all three were updated and got amazing new covers.

I also had three Salvation Pack books released in 2016—Wolf on the Hunt, Wolf on a Mission, and Wolf in his Heart. Look for Wolf in her Soul (Feb 2017) and Wolf of her Own (May 2017). Samhain Publishing also released the three novellas in my Hades’ Carnival series in one volume, both ebook and print.

I also signed with a new publisher in 2016. Entangled Publishing took a chance on my idea for a drakon shapeshifter series and released the first book—Drakon’s Promise—in December 2016. What a wonderful way to end the year! Watch for more drakon books in 2017.

On the personal side of things, I took a trip with my brother. We’re both big baseball fans and I’d never seen a game in person, so we hopped on a plane and flew to Toronto for a long weekend. (I find travel intimidating and never would have done it without him.) We hit the Royal Ontario Museum, Hockey Hall of Fame (we’re big hockey fans too), and Kensington Market. Of course, we saw a baseball game and the Blue Jays won!

It was a whirlwind trip, but I loved every second of it. To cap it off, when we were waiting for a connecting flight, we ran into Daryl Sittler and Lanny McDonald at the airport. We both grew up watching them play for the Toronto Maple Leafs! We got our pictures taken with them. Best trip ever!

I also went on a two-night road trip with my sister. That was more about driving down every back road and stopping at every beach along the way. It was an awesome trip. I loved our time together.

So these are the highlights of my 2016. I have high hopes for 2017. I wish you and your family the best for the coming year.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas...

Happy December 24th!

A Visit from St. Nicholas
by Clement Clarke Moore

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On Cupid! On, Donder and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

Alpha's Revenge is now available from Carina Press!

This book was previously released in 2009 by another publisher under the title of Sweet Charity. It has been revised and updated for rerelease with Carina Press.

A war reaches its endgame, but the heat between two unlikely lovers could set fire to all that Resistance forces have achieved. Don't miss the final installment of the Project Alpha trilogy by New York Times bestselling author N.J. Walters.

Adrian is a flawless Alpha assassin and avenging enforcer of the Resistance, devoted to the destruction of the oppressors. The first rule of empowerment? Never trust a stranger.

Then comes Charity, a woman desperate to relinquish her heart and secrets to the cause, and just as eager to surrender her body to its rebel leader. She's more than proved her loyalty—she's become the most desirable and valuable weapon Adrian has.

Charity Caruthers, daughter of the inner city's brutal General, risked her life to escape into the underground. Now she's Adrian's last hope to infiltrate the tyrant's lair and blow it to hell.

As her feelings for Adrian turn deeper and more dangerous with every move they make, it becomes clear. The greatest defense they can stage? Love.

4 Star review for Assassin's Awakening

Wicked Reads has given Assassin's Awakening 4 stars.

ASSASSIN’S AWAKENING is now available from Carina Press and other fine e-retailers.

This book was previously released in 2009 by another publisher under the title Have Mercy. It has been revised and updated for rerelease with Carina Press.

The pulse-racing Project Alpha trilogy continues as a rebel fugitive comes under the care of a woman whose touch means the difference between life and death

Logan is pure Alpha, a genetically enhanced human who has escaped from the brutal gated city in which he was designed, and from the creators who want him dead. Running for his life across a ravaged Earth, Logan’s goal is to survive. It’s in his blood. Until he awakens wounded, bound and naked, exposed to a beautiful stranger. Now he's vulnerable to sensations he’s never felt before.

Mercy Dockins has tended to many wounded men, but none as intoxicatingly perfect as Logan. Or as responsive to her curative strokes. But as passion ignites between them, Mercy’s very purpose in the bleak new world order is shaken to its core: Logan has brought her not only ecstasy, but danger, too. He's drawn the enemy to her sanctuary, and now their love could soon be just another casualty of war.

Drakon's Promise is now Available!

I'm thrilled to announce the release of Drakon's Promise, Book 1 in the Blood of the Drakon series, releasing today from Entangled Publishing.

Darius Varkas is a drakon. He's neither human nor dragon.

He's both.

He's also the target of an ancient order who want to capture all drakons for their blood. When fresh, a drakon's blood can cure any illness and prolong a human's life, and the Knights will stop at nothing to get it.

When librarian Sarah Anderson stumbles across a rare book belonging to the Knights of the Dragon, she's quickly thrust into a dangerous world of secrets and shifters and things she never would have believed possible. When the Knights realize Sarah has a secret of her own, she becomes just as much a target as Darius. Her scary dragon shifter just might be her best chance at survival.

BIO:

Vella Munn writes, mostly romances, to satisfy the insistent voices in her head.

She's had more than 60 books published under her name plus a pen name. (Please don’t ask her to list them because her head will blow up.) She’s particularly excited about three recent series either out or in the process. One is the eight book Soul series of Native American historicals about America's first citizens.

Her contemporary romance series is called Montana Lakeside. Consisting of four books, each taking place during a different season with a different couple, plus a one-day novella, draws on her love of the wilderness as backdrop for new beginnings and love.

There’s also the three book romantic suspense Feral Justice series which feeds off her loathing of animal abusers and her desire to see them pay for their crimes.

Vella lives in rural Oregon, is married, has two sons, and four grandchildren. She's owned by two bossy rescue dogs and is working on her master's degree as a certified hermit.
